One of the first courses that the Gnostic Centre conducted was on Parenting:

• How to Bring up a Child

This was before the Centre's pre-school, L'avenir (the future) came into existence.

Since then, the Centre has conducted several workshops for L'avenir parents. Some of its workshops have been open to parents in general as well.

The focus of these workshops is threefold:

• On one's own growth as a person and a parent

• On various aspects of how to bring up a child

• On dealing with specific problems one faces as a parent, such as: sibling rivalry, aggressive behaviour, freedom and discipline, eating habits, etc.

The workshops have focused on areas such as:
• The needs of a child

• My role as a parent
• Listening to the inner story of the child
• How to develop a relationship of equality, respect and consistency with my child
• How to deal with aggressive behaviour
• How much freedom, how much discipline
• Spending quality time with your child
• Dealing with sibling rivalry
• Helping children deal with their feelings
• Instead of punishing
• How to channelise the children's energies during the vacations
• How to improve the child's eating habits
• How do we teach at L'avenir - physical, vital, mental and psychic education
• The blossoming of a child

• Motherhood: a Creative Perspective

The emphasis is on the parents' own growth as a pre-requisite for the growth of the child.
