Teacher education has been a prime focus of the Gnostic Centre. The Centre
has worked with over 150 educational institutions, including teacher
education colleges. The programmes fall broadly into the following
categories:

The Gnostic Centre's teacher education programmes are need-based and are
designed for specific groups after interacting with the faculty or the
management.
Pre-Service Teacher Education
The Gnostic Centre is on the panel of Delhi University as a resource NGO to
provide inputs in Self-development to the
Bachelors of Elementary Education
(B.El.Ed.) students. It has worked with the following colleges that offer
the B.El.Ed. programme:

Economics
The Gnostic Centre has developed
a year-long Self-development practicum comprising of 6 to 8 full day
workshops, combined with assignments, project work, presentations to ensure
continuity and application in daily life. Some of the themes taken up are:

The format evolved over the years
is participant directed, i.e. each student identifies her self-development

with presentations and group work as well, to ensure accountability and
engagement, and a widening of perspective. The sessions are evaluated.

The Centre has held a number of
talks in various schools and colleges for teachers, and has also facilitated
workshops at the Centre itself, for the faculty of various institutes. The

Integral Teacher Education
The Centre's main focus is
Integral Education - an area in which it has
developed several programs as well as resources. Besides workshops, the
Centre has held an intensive on Integral Education several times for
mainstream teachers and faculty. Presently, it is developing an online
course for teachers in integral education. The main themes have been:

In November 2000, the Centre held
a 5-day Conference on Integral Education titled 'A
New Education for a New India' with the participation of over 500
teachers & educators from over 120 schools, colleges & teacher education
institutes.
