Since 1996, the Gnostic Centre
has carried out research, training and creation of resources in the
following areas:
1. GROWTH OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN HUMAN RESOURCE
DEVELOPMENT
The development of the human
resource is one of the greatest challenges that face us in the 21st century.
We see that all organisations, societies and governments are only as good as
the people who run them. The Gnostic Centre was set up in 1996 as a research
centre for the growth of consciousness precisely to conduct objective and
subjective action-based research towards fostering an integral and
harmonious individual and society.
To this end we have undertaken research based courses, intensives, workshops
and talks on various themes. We are also presently doing an on-going
research towards the creation of structures to enhance an ecological
environment.

INTEGRAL EDUCATION
The Gnostic Centre has been
studying various systems of education, from the East and West (Maria
Montessori, Rudolf Steiner, Paulo Freire, J Krishnamurthy, Rabindranath
Tagore, Confucius, etc.). Its seeking has been towards a synthetic approach
(combining the best of the east and the west) which could offer a wide,
all-encompassing and profound philosophy and psychology of human
development. This it has found in the writings of Sri Aurobindo and The
Mother, who were the first to lay out the philosophy of Integral Education.
The five parts of the being (physical, vital, mental, psychic, spiritual)
are the basis on which we have been conducting an on-going research towards
developing a curriculum, pedagogy, evaluation techniques, as well as
teaching-learning materials for an education of the future (21st century).
This kind of research conducted is a pioneering effort. The Gnostic Centre’s
research is primarily focused on:
• Pre-nursery curriculum, pedagogy, evaluation & teaching-learning materials
• Teacher education curriculum and pedagogy
• Post-graduate level courses and programs
