The Gnostic Centre has prepared
the following multimedia presentations. Some of these are available as DVDs and the others can be viewed at the Gnostic Centre - these
too will be shortly available for distribution. Each presentation is between
20-25minutes, in colour, with music, images and a narrative.
A New Education for a New India:
Integral Education
What ails Indian education and what can rejuvenate it? How central is the
teacher's attitude in this process? This presentation traces the impact
Macaulay's system of education has had on the Indian mindset and nation, and
proposes certain steps that India needs to take in order to prepare herself
for the future. It highlights the role that each individual can play in this
process.

L'avenir:
the future
This presentation traces the
individual's journey into the inner realms aimed towards self-perfection. It
outlines the nature, limitations and possibilities of the mind, the vital
(the emotional part) and the physical, and presents the psychic (the soul,
chaitya purusha) as that deeper part of ourselves which has the power to
harmonise and achieve perfection. It puts forth a new concept of education
centred around the growth of the psychic and effectuating the systematic
training of each part of the being (mind, vital, physical).

Auroville and the Ideal of Human Unity
Auroville is a unique
international township (near Puducherry) based on the ideal of human unity,
founded by The Mother on 28th February, 1968. Envisaged as a universal town
where men and women of all countries would live in peace and progressive
harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities, Auroville is a
dynamic community engaged in pathbreaking innovations in Architecture,
Ecology, Renewable Energy and Farming. Its experiments in establishing a
cashless economy, non-hierarchical society, no inheritance and land
ownership offer formats of hope for the world. It is a community where
education is seen as a lifelong process. The multimedia presentation
captures some of the significant aspects of this township, its growth over
the last 40 years, as well as its relevance for humanity.

Nirodbaran: a Life
guided by Sri Aurobindo
A biographical account of Nirod
da (Dr. Nirodbaran; 1903-2006) - a close associate and disciple of Sri
Aurobindo and the Mother. This multimedia was created especially for the
occasion of Enshrinement of the Sacred Relics of Sri Aurobindo at The
Gnostic Centre (28th March, 2007) - also the day of The Gnostic Centre's
anniversary, as a tribute to Nirod da, who has been a guiding force for the
starting of the Centre and its work.

(Amal Kiran):
A Centenary Tribute
A pictorial tribute to KD Sethna
(better known as Amal Kiran in Aurobindonian circles) - a long time
associate of Sri Aurobindo - on the occasion of his completing a hundred
years on 25th November, 2004. The presentation traces the highlights of his
life since childhood and the significant contributions he has made to the
world of literature, philosophy and history.

War Against Terrorism
Post 9/11, this presentation reviews the psychological causes for terrorism
- at the individual and collective levels. It traces the international
attempts at unification (the growth of collectives, unions, federations,
United Nations, etc.) as an evolutionary process and also as a response to
precipitation of events (the breaking of the Berlin wall). It presents the
need for an inner shift in the individual psyche from a fragmentary
consciousness to a unitary consciousness and puts forth the concept of the
psychic as the unifying force that has the power to overcome the divisive
tendencies generated by the human ego.

presentation highlights some of the aspects of Sri Aurobindo's journey from
a student in England in the late 19th century, to his role as the secret
leader of the Indian struggle for independence in the early 19th century,
and his taking up of a spiritual life and developing a new system of yoga
(the integral yoga) to provide an impetus to the next step in the
evolutionary journey of humanity, to establish upon earth a consciousness
(supramental) in order to overcome all negatives (pain, falsehood, death...)

In Search of the Soul of India
This presentation reviews the
greatness of Indian civilisation and its successive degradation due to the
schism between spirituality and material life. It highlights the role of
spiritual leaders such as Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekananda and
Sri Aurobindo in their efforts to revive the spiritual core in India. It
specifically focuses on Sri Aurobindo's role in the independence struggle
and his emphasis on awakening the youth of India through spirituality and
education.
